Correlation between Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Previous studies have demonstrated that patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) may develop the latter. The prevalence of 20-43% for AF in HFpEF 50- 60% patients. pathophysiology indicates usually precedes HFpEF, but each disease can promote progression other one. Multiple mechanisms been posited, such as left (LA) fibrosis myopathy well volume/pressure overload. Moreover, combination is associated an increased rate mortality presence worsens hemodynamics HF. diagnosis underestimated, symptoms, laboratory values, imaging techniques be skewed by AF. Unfortunately, there are limited randomized controlled trials recommend guideline-based treatments, choosing between rhythm control. This narrative review aims to illustrate summarize pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment current literature HFpEF.

متن کاملAtrial Fibrillation and Outcomes in Heart Failure With Preserved Versus Reduced Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) are 2 of the most common cardiovascular conditions nationally and AF frequently complicates HF. We examined how AF has impacts on adverse outcomes in HF-PEF versus HF-REF within a large, contemporary cohort. METHODS AND RESULTS We identified all adults diagnosed with HF-PEF or HF-REF based on hospital discharge and ambulatory visit di...

متن کاملHeart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction
Symptomatic heart failure, despite preserved left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction, is a well-recognized phenomenon. This manifestation of diastolic dysfunction is associated with increased morbidity and mortality and can be attributed to a variety of pathogeneses, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, infiltrative processes, and obesity. Unlike in systolic heart failure, where LV ejecti...
